Large Rainbow CatBib

(13 customer reviews)

$12.95

The Large sized CatBib is intended for the more aggressive bird killing cats.  It’s not the size of the cat.

It is designed with easy care in mind. It’s made of thin neoprene, backed on both sides with nylon. The material keeps it’s shape, is durable and color fast. It never gets sopping wet. If it gets dirty, just wipe it off with a damp cloth or throw it in the washing machine. Hang to dry.

WHAT KIND OF COLLAR SHOULD I USE WITH A CATBIB? The collar that works the best (so the CatBib doesn’t easily fall off and is still safe for the Cat) has a short piece of elastic built in. Quick release collars can release with the CatBib and will be lost.  Search for them on CatGoods.

Description

The Large newly released Rainbow CatBib is intended to get the attention of songbirds, but is still effective for all other birds as well.  It is attached to the cat’s collar and hangs loosely over the cat’s chest. It works by gently interfering with the precise timing, and coordination a cat needs for successful bird catching. A simple principle of coming between the cat and the bird just at the last moment. It defeats all the cat’s stealth and cunning at exactly the moment it’s needed. It doesn’t interfere with any of your cat’s other activities. The CatBib ONLY affects your cat’s ability to catch birds. A cat wearing a CatBib can run, jump, climb trees, eat, sleep, scratch and groom.

If you want to prevent your cat from catching birds, use the CatBib. It’s part of being a responsible pet owner to control your pet and to love it dearly.

Before purchasing the large version of this bib, I was on the verge of giving our cat back to the rescue centre from which she came – she would catch anything that moved every day – mice, birds, shrews. It was very distressing to us. As a last hope I bought this bib. The only alteration I made was sewing it in a loop into which to slot the collar, rather than relying on the velcro (as it came) to secure it to the collar. It has been superb. I bought this 1 month ago. She has caught only 1 mouse in all that time. She wears it permanently. She can still jump up fences etc, but she isn’t so agile with fine movements for hunting and so has largely stopped trying. She seems content enough – just has to go at a slower pace now. I wash the bib occasionally by hand in regular washing powder and it’s fine. It’s made from wet-suit type material. I have ordered a couple more despite the price as I am so pleased, and relieved, to have found this . Highly recommend.

It works great that my cat cannot catch any birds.

My cat has been using it for a few months and has caught no more birds. He got out one night without it and 10 minutes later he had caught a baby robin. Now I am vigilant about putting it on. He is so funny, he purrs when I put it on because it means he can go outside. Too cute.

It seems large and awkward for my cat but he gets two birds a week now instead of a dozen. Black cat waiting in the shadows to pouch is dangerous to birds. Thanks for a way to slow him down.

Our cats bird slaughter rate decreased ten fold with this collar. She hated it, understandably. Lucky for her it got destroyed by a wildfire. Once we find a home with a garden and birds we’ll be reordering this awesome gem for sure.

After having two mangled birds show up at our front door we purchased this and it totally works! IF the cat is heading outside we just quickly throw the bib on. At first our cat had difficulty figuring out how to manage not tripping on it, but after a day he was a pro. No more dead birds!

I love this bib. My cat was bringing in birds every day. Not any more. I was hesitant to make him wear it. It took him about 30 min to get used to it. He can do everything as normal. I tell him how beautiful he looks and he’s very proud. Highly recommend

We wondered about the demise of the 3 birds we had found on our doorstep until we spotted kitty with a 4th bird in his mouth. Bad kitty, but we were luring the birds to our yard with multiple bird feeders. We’ve had this bib for 2 months now and there have been no more dead birds. Kitty doesn’t leave home without it.

I adopted a very sweet but super independent, super predatory and very active young cat who makes it very clear that she absolutely has to go outdoors in the morning—-unless she is wearing this I have to deal with saving rats, mice, birds and lizards (sometimes found on my pillow).
It is the best thing I have found. Bells don’t work. This does.
It doesn’t really seem to bother her and is easy to wash, dry with a towel and put right back on her collar.
Happy to have found this. Otherwise I might have taken her back to the humane society and adopted someone slow, fat and lazy.

Recently ordered two Large bibs for each of my predatory cats. I’m very familiar with the bib having used it in years past. I don’t know if the squarer shape is easier for them to knock aside with their chest and front leg, but we are still seeing body parts.. I know this product works, and recommend it if your cat spends time outside. The bib is designed to hesitate that pounce, and give a bird a little more chance to get away.

  12. Tell it like it is

My cat is a prolific hunter, bringing down a bird every day I let her outside – even with a brightly colored collar that is suppose to alert birds of her presence. I bought this bib as a last ditch effort because I am at my wit’s end keeping her inside the house and having her wail at me. Today was her first time wearing this bib and it is working. It prevents her from creeping up on the birds while still allowing her to walk around outside. Granted, it is just the first day, but it has altered her whole demeanor outside. If you have a problem with your cat taking out birds this bib is worth a try.

Writing this so other folks can avoid my mistake. In a fit of “dammit _another_ dead bird” emotions I bought this, without reading that the square, extra-large size isn’t for extra large cats. Definitely start with the smaller size. Also give your kitty time to adjust to it, and train them that the bib=outside time by starting to introduce it slowly. All of that is in the detailed instructions, which of course I didn’t read. You can probably see where this is going. First day out, my murder-kitty manage to break his collar and there went 13 bucks.

Giving it 5 stars cuz it’s not the maker or seller’s fault I’m a dum dum.
